britney/ brittany

Glee is back and I cannot wait to see episode 2 which features songs from Britney Spears, considering I grew up to her music. Still remember her first hit when I was in school.

Here's a look at the promo

And a sneak peak of songs:

Enjoy my fellow Gleeks!

I'll leave you with some classic Brittany quotes.
  •  Did you know that dolphins are just gay sharks?
  •  I'm pretty sure my cat's been reading my diary.
  •  I've been here since first period. I had a cold and I took all my antibiotics at the same time, and now I can't remember how to leave.
~peace out~

eat pray love

It's been awhile since my last movie review which was Inception.

I like to thank JR for the free tickets and MA for the company, also a special thanks to GSC and Style Magazine for this premiere screening on the 23 September 2010 at Pavillion :)

the lowdown:  A movie based on a 2006 memoir by an American author, Elizabeth Gilbert. The memoir chronicles the author's trip  around the world (Italy, India and Indonesia) after her divorce and what she discovered during her  travels, e.g: Italy - EAT, India - PRAY, Indonesia - LOVE.

The movie will be released in Malaysia on 30th September. I've read the book last year and I will try not to compare the two in my review.

Wanna know my review? Well, what are you waiting for? Come along!

pretty little fashionistas

My guilty pleasure over the past few months :)
Four girls with different personalities makes for some unique fashion sense!

We have Aria (bohemian), Hanna (glamorous) , Spencer (preppy) and Emily (sporty).

A breakdown in each character's fashion style:
  • Aria Montgomery played by Lucy Hale has kinda of a cultured sophistication towards fashion. Maybe it's the year away from her hometown and that old soul inside her, she brings out quirky and vintage pieces to perfection.
  • Hanna Marin played by Ashley Benson rocks her fashion style in girly and glamorous pieces. This reflects in her trendy outfits befitting a Queen Bee status. Her fashion sense has changed the most out of the girls as a results from her Hefty Hanna transformation. Financial struggles in her family has made Hanna seek out cheaper pieces but still maintaining the illusion of perfection.
  • Troian Bellisario plays Spencer Hasting, a girl from one of Rosewood's prominent families. She is the brainy overachiever of the bunch. Her fashion sense is preppy with a vintage inspiration. Spencer mixes up her outfits through masculine pieces with a feminine touch to it.
  • Emily Fields is played by Shay Mitchell. Her look is simple, fresh and sporty which reflects her active lifestyle. There is a lot of layering of bright colours to keep Emily's tomboy look more lively and feminine.
Let's take a look at their casual styles.

    a little formal..

    and something for school

i think we have found the mother!

    It's a done deal.

Jennifer Morrison, former House star is joining the cast of How I Met Your Mother to play Ted's new love interest.

She will play Zooey, an activist who is trying to save the Arcadian, an old New York hotel.
The hotel will be torn down for the Goliath National Bank, which is design by Ted. This is how the two crazy kids will meet.
Maybe, just maybe, we can finally put a face on the "Mother" of How I Met Your Mother.
Or do we have to wait for another?

    the alternate universe

I cannot wait for Season 3..the other side and our world is closer and beginning to unravel so much!

The downside of season 3: I won't be able to see Joshua Jackson who plays Peter as much. Due to the two universes, this season will rotate between both; which means Peter and the world we live in will be aired in every other week.

Either way, I wanna see how Olivia gets out of the alternate universe. Well, you're in luck..I've got a sneak peek :D

p.s - Btw, The Girl Behind The Red Door will be going under a new screen name, Purple Muse. Thank you for the suggestions of adding another author. She would definitely think about it but she currently likes the arrangement of a one-off author as she has other commitments.

    an unexpected stand-off

In the finale of Season 2, Castle left for the Hamptons to complete his novel. When the show returns on September 20, imagine Beckett's face when she meets him standing over a dead body, holding a gun.. interesting indeed, no?

A starter kit before we jump into the new season.

On another note, some scoops on the new season:
    • An extended family member in Castle will die.
    • There will be a manipulative villain who kills in three, known as "3xK" who will be introduced this season. The killer will have an Hannibal Lecter appeal.
    • Alexis, Castle's daughter will have a boyfriend played by Ken Baumann. He will be a recurring character who may cause some stress for Castle.
    • Speaking of love interest, Beckett will get Victor Webster to play hers! He will be Josh Davidson, who rides a motorcycle and someone who brings a different side to Beckett.
    Enjoy the promo :)

    the return of katherine

What a great episode this week!

*Don't worry, there are no major spoilers to my review of the season 2 premiere*

We jumped right in on the action from last season's cliffhangers. Katherine is back in Mystic Falls and she's playing her twisted and manipulative game once again.

The premiere episode shows great promise for what's to come for the rest of the season and I, for one, am excited =D

Nina Dobrev is great at donning two characters. As Katherine, she has fun terrorizing people and we can see where Damon gets his cynical humor from. From her outfit, makeup and facial expressions, Nina sure looks like she's having fun in bringing out her mean steak. This episode shows us that both Elena and Katherine is in love the same brother.

Once again, Ian Somerhalder's work every episode is impressive. He brought pain and emotional vulnerability to his character. I think he totally sold it. Katherine's actions helped push him over the edge which has lead Damon to commit something that a certain someone might never forgive.

Paul Wesley shows us some great moments in Stefan. He's becoming stronger and a little meaner. Both guys are interesting to watch as they go from one extreme, of killing each other to working together. It certainly brings for some fantastic scenes on the brother's relationships.

I'm looking forward to see Uncle Mason and Tyler bringing in the werewolf legend on Mystic Falls. Also, the consequences that will follow for Jeremy and Caroline. The Vampire Diaries has definitely stepped up to the game and I say, bring it on!

    No Ordinary Family

No Ordinary Family: This new series features Michael Chiklis (The Shield) and Julie Benz (Desperate Housewives), which focuses on a family that develops super powers after it survives a plane crash ala Lost?

Juice Factor: A combination of Heroes meet The Incredibles. Lots of stars involved in this project, namely Cybill Shepherd as Barbara Crane, Julie Benz's mother and JACKSON RATHBONE. For fans of Twilight, he plays Trent Stafford, a recent victim of home invasion who goes to school with Kay Panabaker's character Daphne. This will definitely pull the teen demographic for the series :p

     Come and join the ride!

    Rizzoli & Isles

by The Girl Behind The Red Door

This show revolves around Detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) and Dr. Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander) who play a Boston police officer in the homicide unit and medical examiner respectively. This series is actually based on a book by Tess Gerritsen. Both Jane and Maura are complete opposites and good friends who solve crimes and bust some of Boston’s most notorious criminals. Growing up at opposite ends of the economic spectrum, the two remain strikingly different from one another in many ways.

Jane is the only female detective in Boston’s homicide division, is a tough and gutsy cop who doesn’t let her guard down (except with Maura), dodges her overprotective mother and is better at basketball than her brother. Maura, meanwhile, is usually more comfortable among the dead than the living. She is always impeccably dressed in designer duds with a steady, sometimes icy temperament. And she is working on curbing her tendency to diagnose the people she meets – including her first dates. Jane and Maura often use their brilliant minds and expertise to solve Boston’s most complex cases. Despite their many differences, Jane and Maura are best friends, with a quirky and supportive relationship.

The show also stars Lorraine Bracco as Angela, Jane’s demanding and intrusive mother; Lee Thompson Young as Detective Barry Frost, Jane’s somewhat green partner; Bruce McGill as Detective Vince Korsak, Jane’s seasoned former partner; and Jordan Bridges as Jane’s brother, Frankie Jr., a patrol cop who hopes one day to become a detective. Frank Rizzoli, Sr. (Chazz Palminteri) is Jane and Frankie's father. He owns and runs a plumbing business called "Rizzoli and Sons".

From the moment I laid my eyes on the start, I fell for this show. I love the tight-knit bond between the characters and the banters that go around. This show is a little bit like Bones as Maura is exactly like Dr. Temperance Brennan in that she spouts out facts and is intelligent except she isn’t as uncomfortable around people as much as Brennan is. The friendship between the two leads is what drives the show. If you like Bones, you’ll surely love Rizzoli & Isles.

See a sneak peek into the lives of these two women

    Undercovers

Undercovers: It's an action spy television series by J.J Abrams (Lost, Alias, Felicity and Fringe). The series revolves around a couple, Steven and Samantha Bloom, played by Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw, who has come out of retirement only to be reactivate in the CIA as agents.

Juice Factor: Think Mr. & Mrs. Smith meets Bourne Identity. We get to delve into the sexy world of TV espionage on a weekly basis. This reminds me of Chuck too with him and Sarah living the ultimate double life!

Take a sneak peek into the lives of a married CIA couple:

    Covert Affairs

by The Girl Behind The Red Door

The reason I watched this show is due to Christopher Gorham who plays August “Auggie” Anderson. The show is about a young CIA trainee, Annie Walker (Piper Perabo) who is sent out into the field. Auggie, a blind operative is her guide into her new life. The show delves into why Annie became a spy and it ‘s due to the absence of her ex-boyfriend, Ben Mercer (Eion Bailey) who left her after their time in Sri Lanka.

Anne Dudek plays Annie’s older sister, Danielle Brooks. We find out that Annie lives in the guest house of her sister’s place and that she adores her two nieces. In the pilot, we get to see Conrad who is played by Eric Lively who flirts with Annie but alas, the character is thrown away and is reported to have left the National Clandestine Service in the second episode. The head of National Clandestine Service is Arthur Campbell (Peter Gallagher) while his wife, Joan (Kari Matchett) heads the Domestic Protection Division (DPD) where Annie works.

Sendhil Ramamurthy as Jai Wilcox is brought in to replace Conrad. His mission is to get close to Annie to get information on her ex-boyfriend, Ben Mercer who is a hired hitman. As the series progresses, we can see hint of flirting between Annie and Jai. Emmanuelle Vaugier also stars in the show as a journalist.

Overall, it’s a nice show that has the potential to be better as the season moves along. It has already been renewed for a second season in the United States. I just love the friendship and the banter between Annie and Auggie and their friendship is what drives the show. There is a long arc whereby Auggie and Annie’s friendship slowly turns into a romantic one. Check out this show before giving it a boot.

    A sneak peek, enjoy!

    Hawaii Five-0

Hawai Five-0: It is a re-imagining of the original 1968 tv series, but the title is a zero instead of the capital letter O. So, let's get to the plot shall we? Steve McGarrett (Alex McLoughlin) is summoned home to Honolulu to bury his father after he is murdered by a madman, The governor wants Steve to head up a new elite police unit with full authority to get the job done. Initially he turns down the job, but when he meets the man in charge of the unit, he changes his mind. Daniel Dae Kim from Lost stars in this series.

Juice Factor: This is one is for the boys. But girls, I imagine we'll be there scoping the scenery..a bit of cuci mata ^^... There's action, humour and eye candy, like an A-Team!

Let's watch the trailer and see where it'll take us:

    The Gates

by The Girl Behind The Red Door
The Gates is one of the new shows I’ll be introducing together with two others. This show wasn’t planned in my list as I stumbled upon it while looking through the summer shows. By the first scene, I was intrigued and by the end of the pilot, I was hooked. The show can be described as Supernatural meets Desperate Housewives.

The characters live in a gated community called The Gates. However, the difference with this gated community compared to others is that not only humans take up residences in The Gates as the community houses vampires, witches, werewolves, succubus and other supernatural creatures. The one code everyone lives by is that no supernatural creatures can hurt or attack another in the community and everyone be it human or otherwise has to live by this code. The only drawback is that the humans does not know of the existence of the supernatural creatures whom they call neighbours.

In the pilot, we see Detective Nick Monahan (Frank Grillo) and his wife Sarah (Marisol Nichols)and their children Charlie (Travis Caldwell)and Dana (McKaley Miller )moving into The Gates as Nick has been offered the post of chief of police after having a trying time in Chicago due to an incidence whereby he killed a man in custody. By the first episode, he notices something strange among the people living in The Gates but he has no concrete prove.

The other characters are the Radcliff’s that is Dylan Radcliff (Luke Mably) and his wife, Claire (Rhona Mitra). They’re both vampires and they have an adopted human daughter, Emily (Georgia Cole). As the season progresses, Nick finds out about the werewolves and vampire community and he does his best to protect everyone’s secret.

The show also has witches in the form of Peg Mueller (Victoria Platt) and Devon (Chandra West). Of these two, Peggy is a good witch and is the doctor in the community while Devon uses her powers in an insidious way.

The best thing about this show is that it doesn’t drag the storyline on whether each character is human or not. The plot is exciting and keeps me on my toes. This is one show I recommend though I do concede that this show is not everyone’s cup of tea.

Watch the trailer and let me know what you think!

    The Event

The Event: The series follows Sean Walker, played by Jason Ritter. Sean was investigating the mysterious disappearance of his fiancee, ends up unraveling the biggest cover-up in the U.S history... something which shapes the very core of mankind and whose implicastions are life-changing.

Juice Factor: It is dubbed as the next Lost. Reading from Wiki, it mentions alien invasion. It does look interesting but could be similar to V (starring Elizabeth Mitchell).

    wild, wild wisteria

Here's the trailer for the latest season of Desperate Housewives.

    the search for mom

I cannot wait for season 4 of Chuck.

Last season, we knew that Chuck had his first kill, Shaw.
Awesome could not handle the spy life.
Ellie and Morgan found out about Chuck's secret.
The Buy More store was destroyed.
Stephen Bartowski, Chuck's dad died in the hands of Shaw.
And, Chuck found a box labeled "Mary Elizabeth Bartowski: Missing".

Well, let's delve into some super secret scoops...
Batista, Eric Roberts and Joel David Moore are set to play Casey's former buddies from the Clinton era.
Linda Hamilton, from the Terminator movies will appear next season as Chuck's mum. At the heart of season four will be Chuck's quest to find his mom.
Awesome and Ellie will be having a baby. He will be more into the pregnancy ritual than Ellie is. Awesome is gonna give it all with his usual awesome-ness.
Chuck and Sarah are together and we will see them as a couple and their internal angst and how their relationship will progress with their spy lives.

And hot off the press, it looks like Buy More is up and running from this screenshot. Olivia Munn has comes on board playing the role of CIA operative Greta, a role that will actually change throughout the season and later be played by Stacy Keibler and Isaiah Mustafa.

    Is this Awesome or what?
